3D EXPERIENCE WORLD is an annual event organized by Dassault Systemes and formerly known as SOLIDWORKS WORLD is back to in-person format. Earlier this week, I attended the first two days of the event in Nashville, TN. It was a great “back to in-person touch” travel, the first large event after COVID with the opportunity to meet people and get back to normal (not virtual) communities.
According to DS, the event counted 4000 live attendees and was streamed online to ~10,000 participants. Which makes it the biggest event for mechanical engineers (3D MCAD). The event was renamed from pure SOLIDWORKS event to a new 3D EXPERIENCE WORLD name by Dassault Systemes but mostly keeps the previous format.
But, with a new addition of Live Streaming from the hall:
Mostly, the biggest change is a transformation from a Partners Pavilion to a 3D EXPERIENCE playground by adding a larger amount of DS presence and 3D EXPERIENCE tools.
The first day keynoted featured Bernard Charles, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Systems, Gian Paolo Bassi, Senior Vice President of 3DEXPERIENCE, Manish Kumar, SOLIDWORKS CEO, and Suchit Jain, VP of Strategy of SOLIDWORKS.
What is my conclusion?
It is good to get back to a normal format and have the opportunity to interact with live people not via zoom. You can watch all presentations, but in-person touch is impossible to replace. I see how events will be transforming in the future by giving more opportunities to meet people with the less “presentation and slide-deck” shows. Solidworks engineering community remains the most live and vibrant in the MCAD industry. Stay tuned for my upcoming blogs with more thoughts, insights, and comments about 3DXW23 presentations, what I’ve seen, and what I’ve heard.
PS. Later this year I plan another two live events – PTC LiveWorx in Boston and Autodesk AU (in Las Vegas). Am I missing some other events? Please let me know-I’m happy to meet and write about the events this year.
Best, Oleg
