I’m attending 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 in Houston this week. In this article, I’m sharing some interesting updates from Dassault Systèmes based on what I learned yesterday.

There was a lot of discussion about the next phase of digital design, AI-driven automation, and virtual twins, along with a leadership transition and some new product offerings. Here’s a quick rundown of what stood out.

I’ll take some time later to digest everything I’ve heard, but for now, here are the five key takeaways from 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025:

1️⃣ Dassault Systèmes introduced Gen 7 of their vision (always a strong and well-structured vision from DS).

2️⃣ Pascal DALOZ is now the CEO, taking over after 25 years at Dassault Systèmes, replacing Bernard Charlès.

3️⃣ 3D UNIV+RSE is the name of the new platform (it might take some time to adjust to reading “+” as an “E”).

4️⃣ Dassault Systemes introduced two new product offerings – Generative Experience and Virtual Companion.

5️⃣ Dassault Systèmes launched a new CPQ product to streamline configuration, pricing, and quoting for manufacturers.

Here are those updates, along with a few more comments and visuals.

A Welcome from Gian Paolo Bassi

Gian Paolo Bassi, Executive VP of 3DEXPERIENCE Works, kicked things off with a look at how design and manufacturing are evolving.

His focus was on how AI, automation, and digital threads are changing the way engineers and businesses work. Instead of just designing products, the idea is to create fully connected digital environments that help companies make better decisions, faster.

It is 30 yeas of SolidWorks.

Pascal DALOZ Takes Over as Dassault Systèmes CEO

One of the key moments of the day was the introduction of Pascal DALOZ as the new CEO of Dassault Systèmes. He’s been with the company for a long time and has played a big role in shaping its strategy.

His focus seems to be on expanding the role of virtual twins, AI-driven automation, and new Gen7 platform architecture.

What is 3D UNIV+RSE?

A big theme of the event was the idea of a “Generative Economy” and something Dassault Systèmes is calling 3D UNIV+RSE. It’s essentially about bringing together AI, virtual twins, and automation into a single connected environment.

The goal is to bring a single platform that learns, adapts, and helps companies optimize their processes automatically.

A Demo of the Next-Gen Connected Environment

Manish Kumar, CEO of SOLIDWORKS, took the stage to show how Dassault Systèmes is integrating AI into design and manufacturing. The demo featured an AI-powered virtual assistant that helps with machining operations, suggesting tools and optimizing settings in real time.

It’s an interesting look at how AI could become a real-time decision-making assistant for engineers rather than just another tool in the workflow.

CPQ: A New Offering for Manufacturers

Dassault Systèmes also introduced a new Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) solution. It’s designed to streamline quoting and pricing for manufacturers, using 3D UNIV+RSES to automate configurations and reduce manual errors.

Given how complex some of these processes can be, this could be an interesting opportunity, but also a challenge for DS to examine how robust is 3DEXPERIENCE platform to manage these CPQ processes by connecting multiple product structures (design, order, contractors, suppliers, customer) and improve efficiency in sales and production planning.

What is my conclusion?

The first day of 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 was packed with news and updates. I spent some time at 3DEXPERIENCE PLAYGROUND exhibition, had a chance to spend time for old friends, collegues, and stranges – you never know whom you can meet there 🙂 It’ll be interesting to see how these ideas evolve and what they mean for the broader engineering and manufacturing world. Looking forward to what’s 3DXW25 Day 2 will bring. Stay tuned.

Best, Oleg
