I’m in Dallas, TX for Solidworks 2019, which is about start. You can feel it. Halls are still half empty, but people are starting to come and traditional gatherings are happening around. The one not to miss is CAD Monkey Dinner, Sat night before Solidworks World (thanks for the shot Daniel)

If you want to have a good guidance about what not to miss at Solidworks World 2019, check this Solidsmack blog. On the top list CAD Monkey, Main session live stream, agenda overview.

My last year question about Solidworks World – will Solidworks community speak PLM lingo? is my starting point at Solidworks World 2019. Another perspective is Dassault Systemes Marketplace and part supply. The biggest question as I look on the future trajectory of Solidworks community is future development of xDesign – a common child of Solidworks and CATIA on top of 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Check my earlier thoughts – Why Solidworks users aren’t planning to switch to xDesign yet? and Solidworks xDesign Design challenge. I had a chance to test xDesign earlier this year, so got first impression about what to expect from Solidworks xDesign. Hope to be able to share it with you soon.

My traditional search investigation about what to expect from Solidworks World on the topics I’m passionate about.

Search for “PLM” sessions and another favorite word – Bill of Materials or BOMs . Check them out.

I also looking forward to xDesign sessions. There are some of them – basics, 101, what’s the future holds. Check this out.

What is my conclusion? Solidworks World is one of the biggest events in CAD community usually size around 5-6K attendees purely focused on manufacturing and mechanical design. It is very interesting to see what future holds for Solidworks products and where this community is going. Stay connected and talk soon.

I’m attending the event and will be presenting OpenBOM in partner pavilion booth #202. If you’re at Solidworks stop by and I’d be happy to talk to you about BOM, PLM and other topics. I’m getting ready to see you soon.

Best, Oleg
