Heading to Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025

I’m preparing for Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 in a little bit less then a month. The event links is here and it will take place in Huston, TX at the end of February. The event (originally called SolidWorks World), has been one of my favorite events for many years. It brings together an amazing community of engineers, partners, and friends. It’s always a great place to learn, connect, and share ideas with others in the industry.

SolidWorks Turns 30 Years Old

This year marks 30 years of SolidWorks. If you’re interested in the history of how Solidworks was created, this article by Jon Hirischtick gives you some interesting photos and founding memos.

A retrospect of all SolidWorks releases in this article by Shaan Hurly. That’s a big milestone and an opportunity to think in a retrospect about the impact of SolidWorks on the engineering world.

Over time, the event has evolved. Dassault Systèmes renamed SWW (SolidWorks World) to 3DEXPERIENCE World and made it look more “DS”, but the core framework remained the same. One noticeable change is the shift from the Partners Pavilion to the 3DEXPERIENCE Playground, reflecting this broader focus.

Exploring the Session Catalog

Let’s start from the session catalog. While attending the sessions is not the primary reason to come to the event, I took a look at the catalog. I found some interesting numbers:

  • 8 sessions tagged with “PLM”
  • 19 sessions tagged with “Bill of Materials”
  • 16 sessions tagged with “ENOVIA” (which is often connected to PLM)

These topics together make up less than 10% of the 345 total sessions. I’m not sure what this means, but it’s something to think about. I also noticed that only 15 sessions include the word “partner,” which made me wonder about the role of partners this year.

Another thing I noticed: about 66% of the sessions still have seats available, which seems like a lot for being so close to the event. But, still there is a time.

Openness and Integration

Openness and integration are topics I care about a lot, so I looked for sessions that focus on these. There are 24 sessions on these themes. One of my favorites is by xLM Solutions: Streamlining System Integration for Seamless Data Flow. It will talk about the Enterprise Integration Framework (EIF) in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which sounds very useful.

What is my conclusion?

With less than a month to go, I look forward to the event 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 to meet people and to adjust my clock about what is happening with the SolidWorks eco-system. From celebrating 30 years of SolidWorks to learning about PLM, BOM, and integration, there’s a plenty of things to do in Huston, TX.

If you’re attending and want to chat about PLM, Bill of Materials, openness, or integration, let me know in the comments. I’d love to meet up.

Best,
Oleg
